週末の出来事

私は昨日パーティーでとても楽しい時間を過ごして、お腹が一杯になるまで食べ続けて、多く新しい人々に出会いました。友達は自分の新居にわくわくしている。その大きな古い木造の農家は広大な土地の上に建てられて、森林に面している。それは何と美しいのだろう…カメラを持ってくればよかった。

ニューハンプシャー州のニコラス・ラバッサー下院議員が自分のフェースブックのページに「アニメはニューク２個では十分ではなかったことの最たる証拠」と書き込み、猛反発を買いました。大部分のアメリカ人は彼のふるまいにはうんざりしている、そして議員は謝罪、コメントを削除しました。文脈も真意も不明です… それは「ブラック・ユーモア」と考えられていると思うが、可笑しいことなんかじゃないわ。議員はその不届千万で残酷な発言で原子爆弾の生存者、その生存者の子孫、日本人全体、全人類に謝らなければならない。

私は今までずっと国がそんな事をするで生まれたがひどく恥じている。それを聞いて私はそのことを思い出す。


I had a great time at the party yesterday, ate until my stomach was stuffed, and met many new people. My friends are thrilled with their new home. The big old wooden farmhouse is built on an expansive plot of land, facing the woods. It was so beautiful...i should have brought my camera.

Meanwhile . . .

New Hampshire state representative Nick Levasseur remarked in his facebook that "Anime is a prime example of why 2 nukes just wasn't enough." Most americans are disgusted by his conduct, and the congressman has apologised and deleted the comment. Context and true intention is questionable... i suppose this is considered 'sick humour' but it's not funny! The congressman owes the survivors of the bombings, the descendants of those survivors, the japanese people, and all of humanity an apology for that reprehensible, hateful remark.

I've always been deeply ashamed to be born in a country that would do such a thing. This just reminded me of that fact.
